Senior Management



Clay Davis, President
Clay Davis joined Amerex in 1996 as one of the two original electrical power brokers. Since that time, he has been instrumental in building the Amerex brand into an industry leader in OTC energy brokerage. Mr. Davis has played a key role in both starting and operating new businesses within Amerex including the emissions desk and Amerex Energy Services. Mr. Davis is currently responsible for all operations within Amerex. Prior to joining Amerex, Mr. Davis worked in institutional fixed income sales for Oppenheimer & Co. and Masterson Moreland Sauer and Whisman.




Scott Halperin, Senior Vice President, Brokerage
Scott Halperin joined Amerex as a broker of natural gas products in 1997. Prior to his arrival at Amerex, Mr. Halperin had gained over fifteen years of experience in the commodities industry as a floor trader at the Chicago Board of Trade and the Kansas City Board of Trade. At Amerex, Mr. Halperin's responsibilities and roles grew substantially over the ensuing years, leading to his appointment as the Manager of the Amerex Natural Gas division in 2003, his admission to the Amerex Natural Gas partnership and his involvement as a member of Amerex senior management team. In addition to his leadership of the Natural Gas division of Amerex, Mr. Halperin was instrumental in a number of business initiatives, including the establishment of the Amerex Retail Energy Services division in 2004. Following the acquisition of the Amerex businesses in North America by GFI in 2006, Mr. Halperin continued to manage the Natural Gas desk and serve as a member of the senior management team. In 2008, Mr. Halperin's expanding role in the Amerex organization was recognized through his appointment as Senior Vice President, Brokerage of the Amerex division of GFI.




Mike Prokop, Senior Vice President, Clearing, Data, Government Relations
Mike Prokop began his commodity brokerage career in New York in 1985, where he became a partner in the Merrill Lynch Energy Group. In 1991, he moved to Houston to form a merchant banking and brokerage operation for a division of the National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Prokop joined Amerex in 1994 and was made a Managing Partner in 1998. Mr. Prokop now oversees the market data business at Amerex, as well as the company's clearing, governmental affairs, and marketing activities. Mr. Prokop represents Amerex on the Committee of Chief Risk Officers ("CCRO") as well as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Energy and Environmental Markets Advisory Committee ("EEMAC"). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Global Energy Management Institute at the University of Houston's C.T. Bauer School of Business and is a member of the City of Houston's Greater Houston Partnership which is currently tasked to make Houston the center for global carbon trading. In addition, Mr. Prokop has played a leading role in the development of industry initiatives such as the ConfirmHub and the multi-broker EnergyCurves data product. Mr. Prokop is a recognized industry leader for issues involving market clearing, energy data and market transparency.




Paul Puchot, Senior Vice President, Business Development; Senior Counsel
Paul Puchot was hired by Amerex in 2002 to serve as its General Counsel. Mr. Puchot's career prior to joining Amerex had been spent primarily in private law practice, with a wide variety of engagements including corporate, tax and bankruptcy matters in many contexts. Subsequently, Mr. Puchot had served in the position of Assistant General Counsel at Enron where, among other things, he had supported the Corporate Development group in connection with acquisition and divestiture activities and assisted in the settlement and liquidation of Enron's commodities trading book. At Amerex, Mr. Puchot has had involvement in a variety of corporate initiatives, both as an attorney and as a member of senior management, most notably the development of the Environmental Commodities group and the establishment and growth of the Retail Energy Services division. Mr. Puchot now serves as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Senior Counsel of the Amerex division of GFI.
